llms.txt

llms.txt is a proposed plain-text file at the root of a website (/llms.txt) that gives AI models a short Markdown summary of the site and links to its most useful pages.

How it works

The file starts with the site’s name as a heading, a one-paragraph summary, and then sections of links with a short note for each. It is meant to be easy for a language model to read in one go.

What it can and cannot do

llms.txt is a community proposal, not a web standard. The major AI engines have not confirmed that they use it when deciding what to say, so treat it as a cheap, low-risk addition rather than a ranking lever.
